Review of Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort and Spa

Hyatt Regency Lost Pines entrance

Our stay at Lost Pines was in early June of 2023. Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Spa and Resort is a sprawling resort just outside Austin, Texas. Our stay was booked on points and our room was a standard room. The resort is beautiful and well maintained. There is self parking and valet parking available. Just be aware that valet parking is charged per day and not per night of stay. There are also a couple of electric vehicle chargers available, but can be hard to snag a spot as the chargers are slow and take a while to charge your vehicle.

Our stay there began a Tuesday and ended on a Saturday. The resort was very sparsely occupied during the week and a noticeable increase in occupancy occurred on Friday. This didn’t interfere with our enjoyment of the resort, just a noticeable difference in occupancy.

Activities

There are numerous little pockets of activity areas that are scattered around the resort outside. Some activities, such as axe throwing and horseback riding, are ones that have to be signed up for. The resort also has a golf course if you have a golfer in the family.

I also enjoyed a walk on a trail along the river one morning.

There are daily activities posted that help to keep the little ones occupied . S’more kits are included, so no extra charge for a kit that is available from a table in the main lobby.

Inside, there are a few things to do

The Pool Area

The pool area is very nice with plenty of loungers available. There are two hot tubs available, one next to the main pool and one in the adult only section. There are also lounge areas available to be rented along with cabanas. Servers come around for you to places orders and they bring food and drinks to you. The lazy river even had a swim up bar on the weekend.

Restaurants

We only ate at the pool bar, Maverick’s and Firehouse cafe, now renamed Heartwood House. I thought the pool bar, Old Buck’s Place, had very good food and drinks. Maverick’s was ok, but had a limited menu when we were there. Since our stay, that menu has been updated. The bright spot was the breakfast buffet at Firehouse Cafe. Here are a few videos of some of the offerings:

We also ate in Bastrop a couple of times and would recommend doing that for an extended stay. The one thing I found lacking at the resort was the options for kids on the menu at the evening restaurants, especially picky eaters.

The Spa

I thought the spa area was amazing. I didn’t book any treatments while there but did take advantage of the showers, steam room and hot tub. The spa has both a men’s and women’s section for these services with a coed pool area.

Next to the spa is the exercise room

And Finally our Room

Our stay was booked on points and our room was a standard king room with a sofa bed. Everything was as expected and clean in our room. Below is a video of our room. They told me we got an upgrade when we checked in and I believe the upgrade was the room location. The resort seemed very large and some rooms could be far from the main lobby and elevators. Overall, we had an amazing stay and would recommend if you want to just relax and get away from it all.
