Disney’s Star Wars Day at Sea Cruise

This past January, we did our second SWDAS cruise. I have to admit that I was nervous that one of us would test positive at port and we would not be able to do our cruise. That by far was the most nerve wracking part of the trip. After we were cleared, it was great! About 1500 guest were expected for our sailing and I think about 200 people tested positive at port. I heard various numbers, so I am unsure of the exact numbers on board our cruise. While it was disappointing that we did not get to stop at Grand Cayman or Jamaica and had alternate ports instead, the low number of passengers on the ship made it a unique experience. No lines anywhere on the ship was fantastic. Our first SWDAS cruise was pre-COVID and the main differences were no guest speakers on Star Wars and photos were with masks and socially distanced. Some of the activities were spread out and not limited to the one day. For example, they had a stage show on the deck one night and the next night was the fireworks show. One positive change was that I saw a lot more characters roaming about during our cruise over all and not just Star Wars characters. I don’t think there was a time I walked around on the ship and there was not a character somewhere interacting with guests. Overall, it was a great experience as things that were different from before were made up for by the low number of passengers. The kids could actually enjoy the pool and there was no waiting in a long line to ride the aqua duck. I enjoyed a drawing class and we played bingo (#shakeitupbetty), watched a movie, went to a variety show in The Tube, 2 tastings and watched the Frozen stage show. See below for SWDAS activities and menu.

This cruise, my son was older and spent his time at The Edge. They had their own set of activities for SWDAS

There are no paper Navigators anymore so I had to screen shot the activities available during SWDAS

Below is the menu for dining that evening
