Key Largo Resorts: Playa Largo or Baker’s Cay

On our recent trip though the Florida Keys, we stayed one night each at Playa Largo Resort and Baker’s Cay Resort. I booked both nights through the Chase Travel portal using Ultimate Rewards points to pay for our booking. When researching for this trip for places to stay in Key Largo, it seemed to me that both resorts were kind of competing for the same type of travelers and thought it would be interesting to stay at each to compare them. We stayed at Playa Largo our first night of our trip on the way down through the keys and we stayed at Baker’s Cay on our way back up at the end of our trip.

Being that we stayed at each only one night, I cannot fully compare the amenities at each, but can give a general overview of each resort. Be aware that each resort has a daily resort fee in addition to room charge. On our trip, the points covered the room charge, but resort fees and taxes were still charged. Each resort includes use of some water craft as part of the resort fee. At Playa Largo I did not see where they were and did not get any photos of what is offered. At Baker’s Cay I did find them and observed guest using them.

The beach at Baker’s Cay is more family friendly as there is a way to walk out in the water that is more gradual then what I saw at Playa Largo. At Playa Largo there are steps that go down to the water and it looked rather deep right there rather than a gradual walkout. The beach at Playa Largo that is in the sun is larger.

Both resorts have a dock that you walk out on

There is also a lawn area with artificial turf and lounge chairs in the sun at Baker’s Cay.

Here are the pools at each resort. Baker’s Cay also had an adults only pool and is on the other side of the family pool and is a mirror image of it.

Each resort has a hot tub. I only have a photo of the one at Baker’s Cay as there was always someone in the one at Playa Largo when I was there the morning we left.

Overall, you can’t go wrong with either resort. I thought both were very nice. I would give a slight edge to Baker’s Cay for families vacationing, especially if the children are younger. Playa Largo would get my nod if you your trip is more on the romantic side, but you definitely will see families at Playa Largo also.
