Disney Fantasy ‘s Oceaneer Club walk through
February 20, 2020
On my last post, I discussed how I saved for and minimized the cost of our last Disney cruise. Here I thought I would share some of the photos from the Oceaneers Club and Oceaneers Lab on the Disney Fantasy’s at the open house we went to on boarding day. This is a kids club for ages 3 thorough 12 years of age available at no additional charge for cruise goers. When we walked up to the club there is a podium that is used for check in and checkout of the kids during club hours. Here is where the magic band like wrist band is scanned when kids are dropped off and picked up. This wrist band must be returned at the end of the cruise. Upon entering, everyone must wash their hands or use a wipe to clean their hands. We used the hand washing stations and it was very neat. You stick each hand into a hole of the wash station and it automatically washes your hands. Then you enter onto the main open area.
Behind the dance floor area is the Star Wars: Command Post that has various arcade like stations.
I also took a short video of some game play at this station. After that, we peeked into a room that was set up with tables for various group activities and moved on to the Marvel themed play area. The photo of this area is the first photo in this post. I was fascinated by the portal station that mimics the portals from Dr. Strange. Basically it just involves some knob turning that shows various scenes to view. There are also some interesting display items to look at.
There were a couple other play areas, but I didn’t take any photos of them as they were geared toward younger children. Andy’s playroom did look like a nice area for the little ones to run off some energy though.
That evening, my son did go to an activity at the kids club while my husband and I got a drink at one of the bars on board before dinner. Be prepared that the pickup line can be long at certain times, so plan accordingly. My son was nine years old at the time and I did have the option at his age to let him sign himself out during the cruise. This may come in handy if your child is older and can meet up with you at a certain time.
Currently they are experimenting with various set ups at the kids clubs with having only certain ages there for some activities. With the wide range of ages there, I can see where it would be a challenge to engage all ages at once. The best source of what activities are being offered is on the Navigator, which is a list of on-board activities for the day. When we did our cruise, we still got a paper copy, but I believe that it is all on the Disney Cruise Line App now. Definitely download this app before your cruise. We also used the messaging function in the app while on-board, but Disney is expanding the functionality of messaging by having i-messages work while on-board.
I hope you enjoyed this brief overview of what to expect at the Oceaneers Club and Lab on the Disney Fantasy!
